"Mansions of Eternity" is a majestic offering of European influenced Death/Black metal that is melodic, technical and truly epic sounding in parts linking the band more directly to the emerging second wave of Scandinavian black metal of the day.

AURORA BOREALIS "Mansions of Eternity" EP was recorded at the hallowed halls of Morrisound Studios in Tampa, Florida way back in 1996 with, of course, sound guru Scott Burns producing. For this first release vocalist Ron Vento handled lead, rhythm and acoustic guitars along with playing bass guitar and keyboards. At this point in time Tony Laureano had only done a demo recording in 1993 with local Tampa death metal act ASHTAROTH just before being enrolled in AURORA BOREALIS. Based upon his performance on the "Mansions..." EP, Tony would later secure prestigious recording and touring opportunities with institutions the likes of ACHERON, ANGELCORPSE and MALEVOLENT CREATION among others! History would also note that Laureano had all the songs for the release worked out and rehearsed in just a week?s time. AURORA BOREALIS was different from most American bands at the time as their lyrics didn?t deal with the usual subjects of gore, horror or occultism. Instead, they dealt with history, mythology and ancient cultures, and in the case of "Mansions of Eternity" Egyptian antiquity was used. The artwork by Jay Marsh reflects this as it depicts a number of gargantuan moonlit pyramids during nighttime. "Mansions of Eternity" presents the official starting point for AURORA BOREALIS as one of the United States' most underrated death/black metal acts.
