An overlooked buried classic of Brutal Death Metal from the long running Los Angeles based band COFFIN TEXTS. Bassist / Vocalist Robert Cardenas is now filling the bass slot for the legendary Death Metal band POSSESSED! COFFIN TEXTS "Gods of Creation, Death & Afterlife" is a noteworthy work of Egyptian themed brutal death metal in the vein of MORBID ANGEL, with a rawness similar to POSSESSED, you may also notice a more complex and intense take on the style set forth by INCANTATION. It was first released as a demo in 1996 then later released on CD in 2000 by DWELL Records. This version is the 2004 BRUTALIZED Records reissue which features 3 bonus cover tracks not on the original release that were recorded for DWELL Records tribute compilations. "Gods of Creation, Death & Afterlife" delves into themes of the afterlife mythos, judgment, and the spiritual world that lies beyond our reality. Sadly, COFFIN TEXTS have gone mostly unnoticed by the metal scene, which is too bad, as they are an excellent band delivering a worthwhile release that is a solid album with a massive riff-fest throughout.
