DARK FORTRESS creates a fusion of victorious thrash and powerful, hateful black metal. The riffs are melodic in a triumphant way. DARK FORTRESS blends the animalistic brutality of black metal with the melodic in a way that creates a unique identity for the "Tales From The Eternal Dusk" album. Some of their members went on to play with bands like CELTIC FROST, TRIPTYKON, SECRETS OF THE MOON or THULCANDRA just to name a few, so you know there will be quality involved here. Back in the day many people compared this release to DISSECTION, MAYHEM or SACRAMENTUM and up to this day that remains the same. A very good and competent Black Metal album that has many elements based in Thrash Metal similar to early SLAYER and SODOM and also many Death Metal parts in the vein of early MORBID ANGEL or DEATH with very obvious Heavy Metal references to KING DIAMOND and IRON MAIDEN as well. DARK FORTRESS evokes emotions through their music with melodic and melancholic touches weaved into bursts of darkness and pure aggression. It?s obvious that there is a deep influence from "The Somberlain" era DISSECTION. If you missed this back in the day there is no better time to rediscover this debut album, which is considered by many to be their best album.
