An excellent Cold and Dark Ambient project. This album was originally to be released by DHR yet ended up being released by our loyal cohorts over at MORIBUND RECORDS! AURIGA DYING is a descent into cold cosmic abandonment — a bleak, atmospheric journey where black metal minimalism collides with desolate ambient textures. EMPIRE AURIGA crafts a soundscape that feels like drifting alone through a dying star system, surrounded by static, radiation, and the hollow echoes of machinery long since forgotten. It’s stark, hypnotic, and intentionally stripped of warmth.

The album unfolds with droning riffs, mechanical pulses, and distant, ghost-like vocals, creating an atmosphere that’s more like a transmission from a collapsing satellite than a traditional black metal record. EMPIRE AURIGA leans into isolation and repetition, building tension through barren soundscapes that evoke the same suffocating emptiness found in XASTHUR, HYPOTHERMIA, AUSTERE, and the raw depressive aura of LEVIATHAN.

Where Ascending the Solarthrone felt like wandering through cosmic ruins, AURIGA DYING pushes deeper into the void — colder, more mechanical, more suffocating. The production is intentionally distant and grainy, giving the album a decayed, transmission-like quality that enhances its post-apocalyptic feel. Every track moves with slow, gravitational pull, dragging the listener through a landscape of rusted satellites, dead suns, and endless black.

This is not traditional black metal. It’s astral isolation, industrial decay, and ambient desolation woven together into a single, oppressive experience.
