From the ancient soil of England rises ILDRA, an Anglo-Saxon pagan black metal force whose album Eðelland guides listeners through forests, moors, and forgotten ruins with epic folk-driven black metal. One of the rare bands writing entirely in the old Anglo-Saxon tongue, ILDRA stand alongside WINTERFYLLETH, FOREFATHER, and EALDULF — yet delve deeper into their ancestral past than any of them.

Eðelland offers a refreshing break from the usual Celtic and European pagan themes, opening a window into a neglected corner of early English history. The atmosphere is rich and immersive: harsh yet full production, powerful riffs echoing early BATHORY, and natural acoustic passages woven throughout like ancient woodcraft.

This is folk tradition delivered through pagan black metal’s raw spirit — evoking the same cultural fire found in DRUDKH, PRIMORDIAL, or SKYFORGER, while maintaining a distinct identity all its own. ILDRA have crafted an engrossing, heritage-driven album that captures the feeling of the distant past. Absolutely mandatory.

For those who worship at the altar of: BATHORY, PRIMORDIAL, DRUDKH, SKYFORGER...
