Here we have the latest full-length album "Ofstan" by the Dutch band KJELD, and as before, this KJELD album is completely devoid of monotony and sameness, as if the band set themselves the task of setting a record for a variety of excellent and digestible riffs. But now, these riffs often have a kind of sense of unease and tension within their aura, and the updated production and sound works in a natural way by creating a flow that is very addictive. "Ofstan" is a bit more sophisticated than their previous releases and there is never a dull moment within this excellent and dynamic album. Beyond all doubt, their music has become tougher, abrasive or harsh, yet delivered with an elegance that will impress the most devout follower of the "true". Needless to say, this is an unusual album and could be described as avant-garde, yet once again using an influence of the classics to create a modern black metal that will impress. However, above all else the music of KJELD remains "true" black metal at its core and "Ofstan" is an excellent album worth your time!
