LAMENTED SOULS is the longest running project of Simen Hestnaes, better known as ICS Vortex (ARCTURUS BORKNAGAR, VED BUENS ENDE...), and is probably one of his most obscure. Fans of ICS Vortex’s work with ARCTURUS will recognize the vocal styling on this album right away. What fans of his other work will be most surprised with is the straight forwards no frills doom, groove metal of this band. Stoner doomsters will for sure find sustenance here. The vocals are really good obviously, and the album has a solid groove to it. More high points to the album is the fact drummer Einar Sjursø is Duplicate Records label owner and former member of VIRUS and VED BUENS ENDE among others. Also, the band features past/present members of DODHEIMSGARD, AURA NOIR, GORGOROTH, IMMORTAL, DIMMU BORGIR and more.
