This long overdue 2024 repressing is presented in a sturdy 350-gram jacket featuring the full, unedited original artwork as well, lyrics, liner notes and the previously unreleased track "Shaitan The Unborn". After the 1996 departure of (SUBCONSCIOUS) guitarist Bryan Johnston and original vocalist Jeff Reimer, MORPHEUS DESCENDS added to their lineup guitarist / vocalist Tom "Mot" Stevens, from the legendary New Jersey Death Metal band NOKTURNEL, and went on to unleash the short but potent release "The Horror Of The Truth" in 1997. This old school death metal gem showcases their signature style, where the band continued in a similar stylistic approach complete with spectral lyrical ideas, low guttural vocals and brutal mid-paced sections that flow dynamically together with fast picked almost Swedish DM styled riffs which are truly distinct to the sound of MORPHEUS DESCENDS. Fans of the band will find this release to be on par with their acclaimed album "Chronicles of The Shadowed Ones". In fact, some consider MORPHEUS DESCENDS to be one of the greatest old school death metal bands to emerge from New York after INCANTATION, IMMOLATION and SUFFOCATION.
