"Thunder Metal" is an absolutely killer split EP on 12" black vinyl featuring both NIFELHEIM and VOLCANO. If you worship the old school sound then chances are you have heard of both these bands , however VOCANO wins being the more obscure of the two.
NIFELHEIM hails from Sweden and play Black Metal, but they sure as hell have nothing in common with country mates the likes of MARDUK or DARK FUNERAL. To us here at DHR these guys would fit nicely in the first wave of Black Metal with bands like VENOM or BATHORY. NIFELHEIM have a pure atmosphere to their sound that delivers what is missing from so many bands these days. Another highlight to the NIFELHEIM side of this release is the additional guitar tracks by JON NOTVEIDT of DISSECTION.
VOLCANO are long time veterans from Brazil and like their country mates SARCOFAGO they unleash a blistering Death Thrash with well-crafted songwriting and is true in spirit to the old ways. You may also inhale the influence of the Greek MORTUARY DRAPE layered within their interesting songs.
