"The Return Of Armageddon" is the fifth studio album by the Italian band ORCRIST. Delivered absolutely in the tradition of early Norwegian Black Metal through and through. This band is a breath of fresh air when you consider the Norwegians themselves are not really delivering stuff like this anymore. Unlike many others who have attempted, ORCHRIST have a real feel for the emotion and atmospheres set by the elder gods of this genre. Especially because they rely on a fairly traditional production recreating a nostalgic nod the golden days. ORCRIST pay homage to the old sound without sacrificing listenability, which makes the razor-blade melodies sink deep into your skin as you listen. The material is definitely frosty and cold sounding, yet ORCHRIST deliver a slightly hymnic and heroic atmosphere as well. This is really an absolutely stellar traditional black metal album from the current day. ORCRIST deliver the harsh sound of the early nineties with all its atmosphere and unpretentiousness in an honest and pure way. No frills, no bling, just eight bitter-cold hymns full of soul-destroying tracks and dark emotion that stay true to the deep pure core roots of Black Metal. For those Die-hard fans of the lost years of black metal.
