"Infirmos Vocat Deus Fidei" is a split featuring four American black metal bands: WORMREICH (Alabama); DIABOLUS AMATOR (Texas); GRAVESPAWN (California); and VESTERIAN (California). Each band offers three tracks, with the entire album running a little over hour. While each band brings their own take on the blackened arts, the whole of "Infirmos Vocat Deus Fidei" serves as an interesting exploit into harsh, obscure, grim and yes cold underground US Black Metal.

WORMREICH offer us chaotic, ritualistic black metal that is dissonant and mesmerizing which writhes and slithers within the realms of chaos. WORMREICH delivers an aural form of mysticism, darkness, and gloom and are talented at creating atmospheres that feel occult and eerie. An excellent offering of old school black metal.

DIABOLUS AMATOR follows the chaotic pulse of WORMREICHS?s tracks with three reverently archaic songs inspired by second wave black metal. Cold and sweeping atmospheres with swirling nostalgic riffs combine to create a blasting and iron plated attack! Pure worship to the dark gods of old school black metal.

GRAVESPAWN and VESTERIAN are seemingly cut from a similar cloth of high-speed riffing driven style of black metal with underlying melodies lurking throughout. Each band do have subtle differences of which offers a worthwhile portion to this split. GRAVESPAWN offer up a darkly triumphant sound which is full of majestic atmosphere that truly shines of the golden days. Where VESTERIAN are a little more on the chaotic, blasting side of things with some solid lead work that overall offers us some fast-paced bleak atmospheres that reek of the early days. Interestingly enough, the band?s share a member, Verigo, who plays bass for GRAVESPAWN and is also guitarist / vocalist for VESTERIAN.
