By now, anyone devoted to Norwegian Black Metal has felt the shadow cast by this legendary, genre-shifting pack from Oslo?active since 1993 and forever etched into the cold stone walls of the Black Metal scene. For those rare few who may have slipped past this release, or for anyone whose old copy has been claimed by time, the moment to strike is now. Copies will not linger long, and once they vanish back into the mist, who knows when they?ll return.

We have landed a few copies of the DIGIPAK reissue of this 1995 cult debut EP by ULVER. Although this version is unofficial it is no less potent in sound or visual representation. A bootleg that is done well and offers you another chance to add this underground gem to your collection. A stark and grim black metal relic woven with spectral neo-folk passages and haunting choral invocations. A mandatory chapter in the ULVER saga?where the ancient spirit flows into bleak darkness meeting an ancient woodland melody. A seamless fusion of folk, atmospheric black metal, and raw Nordic spirit.

ULVER, the ever-shifting wolf-pack from Norway, began their hunt in 1993. Their early works form a legendary trilogy:

Bergtatt ? black/folk metal steeped in moonlit folklore
Kveldssanger ? an entirely acoustic ode to Nordic tradition
Nattens Madrigal ? a ferocious, unrelenting assault of lupine black metal

By 1998 the wolves shed their Black Metal skin and ventured into experimental and electronic realms, but their early EPs and albums remain essential artifacts for any devotee of the genre.

"Ulver" translates to Wolves ?a fitting name for a band whose early sound prowled between the ethereal and the ferocious. "Bergtatt" sees the original ULVER lineup creating a perfect acoustic-laced, moody folklore-ish black metal with a raw and misanthropic edge. An incredibly influential album, and still one of the best ever in this genre. A timeless classic!

Cassette Tape is the perfect format for this grotesque, ominous, and wonderfully strange death metal entity. NIGHNACHT stands as another creation involving Don of the Dead of NUNSLAUGHTER, and with that knowledge alone you can expect a full dose of the dark, abrasive spirit he's known for. This debut EP, "Christophilia", delivers a harsh and unrelenting atmosphere that feels like a direct transmission from the shadowed corners of the mind. Primitive, punishing, and strangely hypnotic, it drags the listener deeper into its bleak world with every spin of this record. Those who appreciate the grim, murky edge of classic death metal will find plenty to latch onto here! "Christophilia" is a strangely addictive raw plunge into NIGHNACHTss unsettling realm.

DHR just picked up some of the last remaining copies from the band! Released by PAGAN FURY RECORDS! Get this before it's gone!

Formed in 1989, UNLORD are widely considered one of Netherlands' very first black metal bands, if not THE first. Although they never publicly released any demos, their three albums were released by the now defunct Displeased Records - 1997's "Schwarzwald", 2000's "Gladiator," and 2002's "Lord of Beneath". Towering as an untouchable trio of freezing-fire black metal incarnate. UNLORD's proud 'n' pure synthesis of bazooka-blown speed and violently melodic riffing reeks of late '90s nostalgia but also sounds remarkably fresh today, nearly 20 years after their untimely breakup.

At the dawn of the new millennium UNLORD unleashed their second album, "Gladiator". Aptly titled and again adorned with an appropriately fiery cover, "Gladiator" was a consolidation of considerable strengths. The blitzkrieg speed of the preceding "Schwarzwald" is taken up a notch, and the riffing clangs and churns with even more authority; if anything, "Gladiator" is the sound of UNLORD at their most berserk. And yet, the icy melodicism remains, and the production is powerfully clear and crisp. If you missed any of the UNLORD trilogy of releases now is the time to pick them up!

Finland’s Black Metal force SARGEIST has spent over two decades carving their name into the global underground — six studio albums, countless EPs, a massive box set, and relentless worldwide touring have earned them one of the most loyal fanbases in modern Black Metal. Here, their darkness joins with Denmark’s cult horde HORNED ALMIGHTY for the long-awaited 2023 reissue of their split album, originally released in 2004 and out of print since 2014.

SARGEIST deliver cold, traditional Finnish Black Metal steeped in blasphemy and razor-sharp melancholy, while HORNED ALMIGHTY unleash their trademark violent, chaotic, and devil-driven assault. Together, they form a unified testament of devotion to the Black Metal cult — raw, hateful, and absolutely uncompromising.

The new album from French black metal entity ORDALIE, "Indifferent Universe", plunges headfirst into the crushing insignificance of humanity adrift in an endless cosmic abyss. It channels a chilling void where star-strewn expanses feel soulless, indifferent, and immeasurably vast. Musically, the band sculpts an atmosphere of cold cosmic apathy, transforming existential dread into an immersive, suffocating soundscape.

"Indifferent Universe" becomes a stark meditation on the human condition ? a confrontation with the terrifying grandeur of the universe and the futility of seeking meaning within it. ORDALIE explore existence, cosmic terror, and the perpetual search for truth with a sincerity that cuts deep.

The album drags the listener through freezing astral corridors and into the darker recesses of existential thought, all wrapped in gripping, expertly crafted black metal. The production perfectly captures the raw, early-wave spirit while still feeling powerful and intentional. This is pure, honest black metal ? uncompromising, atmospheric, and absolutely worth your time.

Limited edition Black Vinyl of 300 hand numbered copies

The album "Nocturno Inferno" by the obscure band ORTH, has received and is worth much praise for its authentic early wave Norwegian Black Metal sound. This album, which is quite obscure, and was almost lost in time, is worshipped by those dedicated followers of the "true" for its haunting atmosphere and grim, ice-cold riffs, reminiscent of the work of the many classic Norwegian bands these guys were also involved with. It is considered a significant piece of Black Metal history and is recommended for followers of early Norwegian Black Metal. "Nocturno Inferno" was recorded between October 1995 and February 1996 at the legendary Grieghallen Studios by Eirik "Pytten" Hundvin in Bergen, Norway, but issues with delivery of the physical album and the suicide of Erik "Grim" Brodreskift resulted in it being unreleased for over 20 years. This LP version released by A FINE DAY TO DIE RECORDS on traditional BLACK VINYL is the perfect way to experience the album. If you?re a DIE-HARD follower of the "True" old school second wave of Norwegian black metal and want to explore a "lost" cult gem of an album from the era, ORTH's "Nocturno Inferno" should be in your collection. Capturing the grim, cold spirit of 1990s Bergen, Norway and serves as a fascinating artifact of the scene.

Erik Brodreskift (1969-1999) was a Black Metal drummer for bands such as IMMORTAL, GORGOROTH and BORKNAGAR. He took his own life in October of 1999, and despite being an underrated drummer, he is still held in high regards as one of the better drummers of the genre.

Ares is the founder and front man of the Norwegian metal band AETERNUS, known for pioneering the dark metal genre that blends black and death metal elements. Ares also have been played in IMMORTAL, GORGOROTH and GRIMFIST as well as some vocals on DARK FORTRESS albums.

V-Rex, also known as Vassago Rex, is a Norwegian multi-instrumentalist musician who has made significant contributions to Black Metal. He is a member of various bands, including AETERNUS, ANCIENT, ARVAS, DODSFALL and more.

Line up:
Drums: Erik "Grim" Br?dreskift (Immortal / Borknagar / Gorgoroth)

SHINING will always be a controversial band, mostly because they refuse to adhere to a strict "Black" formula and you can tell KVARFORTH isn't content to wallow in the underground recording albums which sound redundant, and that is a quality which keeps us all intrigued here at DHR. Anyone who enjoyed the last two albums would do very well to pick this one up too. We also love the artwork which is easily the most viscerally graphic interpretation of the band's concept to date. However, what really makes "Halmstad" perpetually enchanting, even years after its release, is its timeless quality. It made some waves when it first came out because it was groundbreaking and fresh and still feels that way now. KVARFORTH is a maniacal genius! The impeccable production, combined with masterful musicianship, perfectly conveys genuine emotion. Many may label "Halmstad" as an exploration of "depression", and it is, yet you should keep in mind that for us here at DHR, we have also found other qualities amidst the pure pervasive darkness. "Halmstad" emits an undeniable undercurrent of strength and perseverance, in an ironic twist, where many find despair, we feel the album really conveys the concept self-empowerment and overcoming yourself and the holes we dig for ourselves. An essential purchase in our opinion.

DARK HORIZON RECORDS, in conspiracy with PARAGON RECORDS, proudly unveils the 30th Anniversary Edition of "The Senectuous Entrance", the long-buried and fiercely cult second album from American Blackened Death Metal entity DETERIORATE.

Originally released in 1996 and unseen for three decades, this enigmatic relic of the U.S. underground has been fully remastered by Tore Stjerna at the legendary NECROMORBUS STUDIO (Sweden) ?the same architect behind landmark works from MAYHEM, WATAIN, FUNERAL MIST, DESTR?YER 666, LEVIATHAN, T.O.M.B., and countless others. His mastering breathes new life into the album?s oppressive atmosphere while preserving the raw, unhinged spirit of the original recording.

This anniversary edition features a newly enhanced layout by Lord Typhus (DHR), including:
A reimagined version of the original album cover
Restored and expanded booklet pages
Era-accurate band photos
Lyrics for "The Senectuous Entrance" tracks

As an exclusive bonus, the release includes an unreleased alternate version of "Devoured" ?a lost track from the "Rotting In Hell" era, finally unearthed after decades in obscurity.

After 30 years submerged beneath the surface of the underground, "The Senectuous Entrance" returns in its most definitive form. This is an essential resurrection of a truly cult Blackened Death Metal artifact, a must-have for collectors of U.S. early-wave Old School Death Metal and early-wave Black Metal filled with extremity for true devotees of the obscure.

DETERIORATE emerged in 1991 from the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania underground, quickly carving out a place among the early wave of U.S. Death Metal. The band first announced their presence with the 1992 self-titled demo "Deteriorate", a raw and forceful statement that led to a deal with the now-defunct cult label JL America. In 1993, they unleashed the revolutionary and critically praised old-school death metal album "Rotting In Hell", a release that has since become a cornerstone of early ?90s American Death Metal.

In 1994, the band followed with their second demo, "Gather the Nebbish", further refining their sound while remaining firmly rooted in the underground ethos. Two years later, DETERIORATE resurfaced with a new label home, this time signing to Pulverizer Records / Diehard Music Worldwide and released their second full-length, "The Senectuous Entrance" (1996). Although the album went largely unnoticed upon release, it has since become one of the many lost relics of the U.S. extreme-metal deep underground: obscure, uncompromising, and fiercely cult.

DETERIORATE officially disbanded in 1997, but its members continued to leave their mark on the American extreme-metal landscape. Vocalist J. Gannon briefly joined GOREAPHOBIA before forming the experimental U.S. black-noise entity T.O.M.B. Guitarist John "Thorous" Bosman later created the cult U.S. Black Metal project TREADING ON DIVINE as well as briefly joining SIL VETH as bassist for a short period.

Though their existence was brief, DETERIORATE?s legacy remains firmly etched into the fabric of early American underground metal ?raw, obscure, and forever resonant with those who seek the true depths of the 1990s extreme-metal era.

"The Senectuous Entrance" is a whirlwind of high-speed, atmospheric, grinding black metal mutating into the old school death metal ferocity. On this album, DETERIORATE reach toward the grand, windswept majesty of the early European style, yet filter it through the uniquely American strain of OSDM with extremity and urgency, grinding violence, and death metal weight. The result is a volatile hybrid: ambitious, musically adept, and at times so conceptually dense that its very intensity threatens to collapse under its own shadow, leaving only the most devoted listeners standing.

A sound steeped in the influence of blacker titans such as Sacramentum, Marduk, Immortal, Dissection, and Dawn, the early half of "The Senectuous Entrance" surges with cold, high-speed black-metal grandeur. As the album progresses, its foundations shift toward the deep, violent pulse of bands like Necrophobic, Brutality, Malevolent Creation, and Morbid Angel, revealing the band?s death-metal roots in full force. Across its entire span, DETERIORATE capture the exact moment where death metal?s brute physicality collides with black metal?s cold spiritual vastness, forging a hybrid that remains as enigmatic as it is extreme.

MANTICORE stand as a three-headed embodiment of American extremity unyielding, proudly barbaric, and viciously devoted to the primitive doctrines of slaughter-worshipping death metal. Their path has dragged them, blood-streaked and resolute, to the Dark Horizon Distro via Old Cemetery Records. The US based MANTICORE has forged for us perhaps the most putrid, bone-grinding production to rupture eardrums since the rise of the Swedish death metal plague that every true disciple of the genre knows by sound alone. Where the Swedes conjure the stench of bloated corpses marinating in post-mortem filth, "Behold Ascension of the Execrated" is baptized instead in a molten, asphyxiating haze an oppressive, singular dissonance that clings like the breath of something ancient and starving. The album doesn't just sound foul; it devours the air around it, leaving only a suffocating void where light and mercy once lived.

"Visions of Agony" is a filthy, blood-soaked slab of Canadian death metal barbarity, carved straight from the same decaying bone pile as BOLT THROWER, AUTOPSY, GRAVE, and early MASSACRE. EXPUNGED deliver the kind of rotten violence that feels like it was recorded in a damp crypt with nothing but a burning hatred for modern polish. You will instantly recognize this as the real fucking deal. This is death metal for the diehards — the lifers who still blast Infernal Overkill, Left Hand Path, and Severed Survival at ear bleeding volumes. EXPUNGED aren’t reinventing anything; they’re reviving the rot, dragging the genre back to its primitive, blood-soaked roots with absolute conviction. "Visions of Agony" is ugly, relentless, and proudly barbaric — exactly the kind of release that belongs in the Dark Horizon Records distro! A surgically precise and skin-stripping debut from Reykjavik’s rising force in extreme metal, EPIDERMAL VEIL deliver a five-track ritual of technical death metal brutality steeped in anatomical mysticism and cold Icelandic hostility. Psalms of the Flayed is a calculated assault—modern in execution, underground in spirit, and drenched in flesh-obsessed extremity. The band’s frostbitten roots sharpen their sound into something both disciplined and cruel, with slicing guitars, crushing percussion, and vocals that cling like dried blood. The production highlights their technicality without sacrificing atmosphere, keeping everything tight, dangerous, and relentlessly intense across all five tracks.

MORBOSIDAD returns with "Corona de Epidemia", a fifth full-length forged in the same hostile black/death metal spirit that has defined the band for twenty-five years. Led by the venomous command of Tomas Stench, Morbosidad remains unwavering through lineup changes, tragedy, and hiatus — delivering another slab of Spanish-voiced blasphemy carved straight from the abyss. Recorded at Imperial Mind Engineering in Texas, the album hits harder and deeper than previous works, pushing the violent surge of vocals and drums to the forefront. The lineup features Joe Necro, Matt Mayhem, and Ded Ted, with a closing-track appearance by Sodomatic Slaughter (BEHERIT), echoing the respected legacy of past guest contributions. Originally issued as a limited LP for a festival date, this new edition features expanded layout and new artwork from Chris Moyen, perfectly channeling MORBOSIDAD’s doctrine of contempt and unholy devotion.
