Two pillars of Canadian death metal collide in a short, violent strike of pure Scandinavian-bred savagery. This split is a celebration of everything rotten in the old Swedish tradition — chainsaw riff worship, cavern-thick low end, and that unmistakable HM-2 bite that defined an era.
EXPUNGED open the release with exclusive tracks written specifically for this split, delivering their most vicious material to date. Riffs hit with the blunt force of early Entombed and Dismember, driven by a rhythm section that never loosens its grip. It’s fast, direct, and merciless — the kind of death metal that doesn’t bother with atmosphere because the tone itself is the atmosphere.
CRUEL FATE answer with their own slab of grave-soaked death metal, channeling the same Scandinavian spirit but twisting it through their darker, doom-leaning lens. Their side feels like a slow descent into the crypt — heavy, oppressive, and drenched in the classic Canadian death metal grit that Soil Chronicles praised as “damn effective.”
The French zine called this split “putain d’efficace” — brutally effective — and stamped it with a 9/10, noting how both bands strike with total efficiency and zero compromise. No modern gloss. No trend-chasing. Just two acts paying tribute to the filthiest era of death metal while proving Canada still carries the torch with authority.
