Dark Horizon Records proudly presents ILHALUNG, whose debut album "Falskhetens Dualitet" is released on CD/LP in conspiracy with Duplicate Records (Norway).
ILHALUNG was formed in Trondheim, Norway by seasoned players in the metal community. On their debut album, “FALSKHETENS DUALITET”, they deliver forty minutes of atmospheric yet harsh black metal that is unmistakably rooted in the classic Norwegian tradition while confidently forging their own identity. This is not a retro exercise or a modern reinterpretation — it is a world unto itself. Rather than adhering to genre conventions, ILHALUNG use black metal as a vessel for something deeper. The album’s lyrical core tears into religious dogma and societal norms, exposing them as a spiritual cage designed to suppress independent thought. This critique is expressed through poetically laden verses that challenge the listener to confront the boundaries imposed upon them — boundaries accepted not through conviction, but through conditioning. Musically, the record moves with an ever-building atmosphere where darkness and light coexist, creating tension, release, and emotional weight. Melancholic passages rise from harsh foundations, while dissonant riffs and cold melodies intertwine with moments of clarity. The songwriting is understated yet rich, revealing more with each listen. It’s an album that rewards immersion — preferably alone — from start to finish, where its full emotional resonance becomes clear.
For those who worship at the altar of MUNDANUS IMPERIUM, TULUS, KHOLD, KVIST, BETHEL, DØDHEIMSGARD, and VED BUENS ENDE — these references serve only as signposts. ILHALUNG stand in a class entirely their own.
“FALSKHETENS DUALITET” is more than the sum of its parts. It is a statement, a confrontation, and a meticulously crafted emotional journey from a band already operating at a level far beyond a debut.
