The burial mound stirs once more? A pale ember glows beneath the soil, and a whisper rides the cold wind. Those old, bone-deep sensations return with sorrow, defiance, the ache for forgotten forests and paths long overgrown.
What do you feel as the earth shifts? Can you hear the murmurs from the long-forgotten mound, calling through root and stone?
Though black metal forms the heart of this creation, shadows of other traditions coil through it. A discerning ear will catch the haunted twanging strum of the banjitar, weaving a ghost-ridden strain of Americana into the storm a reminiscent echo of distant hills and ancestral dirt. "Direfolk" is 100% Heathen, unbound and unbroken. This album is a must for any wanderer seeking the same spectral currents carried by DRUDKH, WALKNUT, HATE FOREST, PRIMORDIAL, WOLVES IN THE THRONEROOM or even SAOR... You will lose yourself in the raw, pagan-soaked, folk-infused black metal essence of THURSBANE. "Direfolk" drags the listener deep into the same bleak, windswept realm these bands summon, a place where memory, myth, and mourning coil together beneath a grey and endless sky.
