IMPALED NORTHERN MOONFOREST is one of those wonderfully strange corners of music history ? a parody band that accidentally became legendary! Formed in 1997 by Seth Putnam and Josh Martin of ANAL CUNT, with the whole idea being, to poke fun at the ultra-lo-fi, hyper-grim aesthetic of early Norwegian black metal. And in a legend told by Seth that someone was sleeping nearby when they decided to record, they used only an acoustic guitar and improvised percussion (including knee-slapping and a mattress). That hilarious and intentional limitation became their entire identity!

Here?s the funny part:

Even though the project was meant as a joke ? no rehearsing, no real songwriting, just chaotic spaztic improved noise acoustic, quote - unquote, "black metal" ? it gained a cult following. Their self-titled 7-inch demo was limited to 200 hand-numbered copies and has become a rare collectible selling for up to $100 or more per copy nowadays! Fucking Hilarious!

You either get the joke, or you don't, just like with other Seth Putnam projects like ANAL CUNT or VAGINAL JESUS! You can let the tongue in cheek humor do its thing and make you laugh at others, or yourself while enjoying a bit of dark waaay over the top comedic improve and stop being such a whining sandy vagina loser!
