Aes is a monolithic slab of funeral doom carved with the precision and solemnity only SKEPTICISM can summon. This album doesn’t “play” — it unfolds, like a procession moving through a cathedral built from stone, shadow, and grief. Organs swell with crushing weight, each chord landing like a granite pillar collapsing in slow motion. The guitars drag forward with tectonic heaviness, smothered in fog-thick distortion, while the drums strike with ceremonial patience — every hit deliberate, ritualistic, and final. Vocals rise from deep within the earth, a cavernous roar echoing through vast chambers of gloom. The pacing is glacial, suffocating, and reverent, creating an atmosphere that feels less like music and more like a sacred rite performed at the edge of oblivion. Aes is funeral doom in its purest, most uncompromising form: towering, solemn, and utterly immovable. A record that doesn’t just demand attention — it commands it, like a funeral march that refuses to end.

If you worship the ceremonial gravity of THERGOTHON, the cathedral-sized sorrow of FUNERAL, or the suffocating grandeur of MOURNFUL CONGREGATION, SKEPTICISM stands as the genre’s immovable pillar. Their organ-driven weight echoes the ritualistic pacing of EVOKEN, yet remains colder, more monolithic, and more steeped in ancient solemnity. Aes is the sound of funeral doom at its most towering and ceremonial — perfect for listeners who crave slow, crushing, reverent darkness delivered with absolute conviction.
